Cruising along the coast
We sail off Pigadia harbor for OLYMPOS onboard an elegant motor-yacht, cruising along the beautiful coast line, viewing magnificent golden beaches: KATO LACKOS, ACHATA, KYRA PANAYIA, APELLA, AYIOS IOANNIS, to anchor at DIAFANI port, after 1,5 hours cruise, enjoying lots of sunbathing on the spacious yacht deck, admiring the lash green mountains slopping down to the sea.
Olympos Village
By coach we shall drive you up to OLYMPOS (7 km away). This unique Medieval village is settled up at high mountains hidden from the sea, because of Pirates terror in early years. Still today, life goes just like Medieval times…Guided by our qualified guide you will stroll through narrow lanes in the village, meeting local women dressed up in their colorful folklore costumes! Passing an old traditional bakery, to visit a typical Karpathian House, viewing the utilities of each corner, decorated with excellent carved wooden furniture and wheat mills still working in part.
Relegion & Culture
Before the tour is over, we shall pay a visit to the Cathedral of “Virgin Maria” at the plateau to be told and admire the fine golden plated!!! icon stand, found only thirty years ago, as covered by dark paint, due to pirate’s fear.
Gastronomy
Nearby, we shall taste a delicious local meal “Makarounes” (kind of spaghetti). “Lachanopites” both traditionally made from wheat flour, baked in charcoal ovens (not included in the rate) before we return to DIAFANI for embarkation. By same routing, we shall cruise back to PIGADIA.
